Yesterday I had a good long conversation with a DIY/handy friend about how I would design my "dream creative space". We talked about custom shelving and storage with recessed/hidden power outlets and what the best materials would be for counter tops etc... It really got me thinking about how important a creative space can be and how the little details can be both functional and inspirational.
I have a Pinterest board for my "dream" craftroom. I design digital scrapbooking products, do traditional scrapbooking, knit, sew, quilt and any number of other crafty projects in my space - so for me, a creative space needs to handle all of those things! Each of the pins I save/repin have a design element I would love to have in my space - either a piece of furniture or colors or storage, etc...
This week, I purchased a new desk, with 2 work stations - kind of a rounded L-shaped desk. In the room, I have 1 long, brick wall with a mantle shelf built in, as well as 3 little alcove mirror shelves built in above that. It's an old 70s recreation room with track lighting (which I'm working to find better lighting solutions!) - so it has some vintage character. And while my space is not yet the way I would like it, I'm well on my way to a creative space I can truly enjoy.

You can see I have my books and collections lined up on the built in shelves. I even managed to find my nameplate from my old office. I love that I have space to work at my laptop and do paper projects without having to move everything around!
Next on the project list: NEW DESK CHAIR!
Where do you create?

Hey, Theresa...love your new desk and work space. Also, love your vintage cameras!! Very cool!!! :o)
